How a case travels

Five stages, the same ones the tracking page lights up as your case moves. You are emailed at each one.

  1. You, on the spine: Filed

    You file the case online

    Choose what kind of case it is, pick the match, name who it is against, write your statement and attach your evidence. The tracking number arrives by email the moment you file.

    • A protest is free. A complaint costs KES 2,000. Pay by M-Pesa before you file and enter the confirmation code.
    • Signed in as a club manager, you file for the club. Anyone else files with their own email and phone.
    • Once a match has a ruling, the form stops a new protest and points you to an appeal instead.

  2. The Case Registrar, on the spine: Screened, then admitted

    Before any committee sees a case, the registrar checks it is the right kind of filing, made in time, by a party, with the fee paid. Then one of three things happens.

    • Admitted: the case goes to the committee that hears it.
    • Returned: the registrar asks for something specific, such as a missing document or an M-Pesa code that could not be found. You answer on the tracking page and the case carries on.
    • Not accepted: always with the reason and the right next step, as a button that starts the correct filing with your statement, parties and match already filled in.

  3. Leagues & Competition Committee, on the spine: Listed, then heard

    The LCC hears it

    A member of the Leagues & Competition Committee takes the case and lists a sitting. Every party gets the date, the time in East Africa Time, a meeting link and a calendar invite.

    • Sittings are held online. Join from the email or the tracking page.
    • The committee can adjourn and sit again. Each new sitting is emailed and listed on the case.
    • No member hears a case they filed or that involves a club they manage.

  4. Leagues & Competition Committee, on the spine: Ruled

    The committee rules in writing

    The ruling says what was decided and why, and any sanction. It comes with the signed ruling as a PDF, and it is emailed to every party on the case.

    • Upheld, dismissed, partly upheld or struck out, in plain words on the case page.
    • The appeal window opens the moment the ruling is delivered, and the case page counts it down.

  5. Disciplinary Committee, on the spine: Appeal

    An appeal goes to the Disciplinary Committee

    A party who disagrees with an LCC ruling can appeal within 7 days of it. An appeal costs KES 50,000, passes the same registrar, and is heard by the Disciplinary Committee.

    • Start it from the ruled case's page, so the appeal is tied to the ruling it challenges.
    • The committee allows the appeal, dismisses it, or varies the ruling, and says in plain words what happens to the LCC ruling: set aside, upheld as it stands, or varied and how.
    • Both cases link to each other, so either number shows the whole story.

What it costs

A protest is free, so no club is priced out of objecting to what happened on the pitch. The fee rises with how far the case travels.
